31 Days of Lessons Learned: Day Twenty
Have a Date Night From Time to Time
Sorry for the delay in yesterday’s post. My wife and I went to my cousin’s wedding. During the wedding, we even got a shot to renew our vows. That’s right, I’m married again. Who wants to send me presents? 🙂
Also, since it was an adult-only reception, we got to stay out later than usual. At the reception, we were sat with one of my cousins and a couple we had never met. We all hit it off with the new couple, and the night was filled with laughter and great conversation.
The food was good, the drinks were stiff, and I even danced (I don’t usually get out of my seat at weddings, unless it’s to refill on food or drink). When the DJ plays a little bit of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, it’s hard not to move your feet.
As parents, it’s important to get some adult time from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, I love being with my daughter and spending time with her, but it also feels nice to let loose a bit and have a date night. The couple that we just met at the table had a 5-year-old at home and were thinking the same thing. They didn’t get out much, so they planned on enjoying themselves at the reception. And enjoy ourselves they did.
The wedding was great; the reception was great; and the date with my wife was great. My cousin also married a great dude and I’m happy for both of them.
One of the changes I’d like to make after having so much fun at the wedding is to have a regular date night with my new bride (because we renewed our vows…get it?).
