This October marks the third anniversary of my participation on a 31 Day Blog Challenge. What is that you ask? Well, hundreds (maybe thousands?) of bloggers all vow to pick one topic and blog about it every day of the month in October. That’s 31 blogs, no ifs, ands or buts.
This year, I’m going after something I’ve been passionate about since my days of checking out 45s from the public library – music.
More specifically, mixtapes. The art of the mixtape is a sacred one. It’s also an art that is lost on the youth of today. There’s just something about cracking open the new pack of Memorex blank tapes, and planning your mixes. Mixtapes are an inherently personal experience – for the person making it and for the people they want to hear it. Whether it’s the soundtrack to a house party, or something you put together to impress the girl in your class, the power of the mixtape is hard to dismiss.
Sure, the delivery method has changed over the years, but the message and meaning stays the same. Since I can’t get enough blank tapes, scotch tape, and pencils to go around for the month, I’m going to use the next best thing – Spotify.
For the next 31 Days, I’m going to make a series of mixtapes (each ten songs long) to get you through the month. Who knows, you may even learn about some great new bands.
This blog will serve as the placeholder for each of the 31 mixtapes. If you want to keep coming back throughout the month, you can also find the mixtapes posts by looking for this icon:
