31 Days of Digital Mixtapes, Day Two:
Songs to the One I Love
When you think about the majority of mixtapes you’ve made in your life, I’d be willing to bet a significant portion of them were for someone you had feelings for or wanted to impress. That’s why the art of the mixtape was so important. While, I must admit, most of the mixtapes I made back in the day were for myself, from time to time, they were for someone else. No matter who the intended audience was, it was a big deal to construct the mix. Take these clips from High Fidelity for instance:
My wife and I met in 1997 and have been going strong ever since. I’ve made her a few mix CDs here or there in those years, but I haven’t done one lately. Every song on this mix reminds me of her in some one. From the song Goldfinger played live on our first date during our first kiss (the out of place on this mix “Answers”), to the song I played on my stereo while we sat on the trunk of my car and looked at the stars (“My Precious Love”), all the way to the first dance at our wedding (“Better Together”), each song on this mix just puts a smile on my face.

Doing our best myspace pose – still going strong over 15 years later
Hopefully, the songs on this digital mixtape make you think of your special someone. What songs would you include on that mix? Feel free to chime in below!
